Back to Reality

It's official...I'm back in the real world...ugh! I'll be going back to work tomorrow and life will be back to normal. I cannot put into words how fabulous the beach trip this year was but I'll try. 12 of us left Montgomery at 9:32 a.m. headed for Destin, FL. Much to my surprise we stopped just once for a bathroom break. The entire trip took just over 3 hours. Arriving around lunchtime our room wasn't ready so we went to Fudpuckers (please don't ask my mother to say that word...it comes out all wrong). We ate lunch and took a little trip to Wal-Mart to stock up on food, drink and other miscellaneous items that we needed. I think we got back to the room about 3:30 or so and the fun started with an UNO game. I won and JM lost so her punishment was....well, I can't talk about it because WHAT HAPPENS IN DESTIN, STAYS IN DESTIN! After a few drinks, we all decided that it was pointless to sit at the condo and we got ready (I in record time) and went to AJ's. I'll just say that we had a blast there and it's only the first night. We got in somewhat early on Thursday night. 2 a.m. I believe. Friday morning I wasn't feeling so hot since I'd had a lot of fun the night before. I grabbed a pack of crackers and headed out onto the beach to meet the rest of my posse. Birmingham girls had arrived late the night before while some of us were at AJ's and I finally got to hang out with the whole clan. The waves were ridiculous but fun. Just playing in the ocean was a complete workout. Sometime around 2 p.m. I'd had enough and went back to the room to take a little nap and get prepared for the night ahead. We had reservations at Howl at the Moon. Arrived around 7:50 p.m. at Howl at the Moon. By midnight everyone in our party had left except those who were truly destined to party! So we kept right on bar hopping (the Swamp and Nightown)...until 4:30 a.m. On the trip home I realized that I had lost my drivers license and debit card! AAAAHHHHH!!! JM and I were walking the beach at 5 a.m. searching for it and had no luck. When we got back to the condo VT was awake and I got her card to call and cancel mine. Everything was still cool because I had an expired license and was sure that none of the doormen would be checking the expiration date. I was right. Saturday on the beach was nice. Not as hot as the day before but the waves weren't near as big...bummer. I layed out for a while and then went back to the condo to take another little nap to prepare for the night ahead. I never really took a nap. I watched the movie, The Hills Have Eyes. It was just okay. So I started getting ready for dinner however I was not hungry at all because my alcohol consumption had finally caught up with me. I forced down an appetizer at Harbor Docks and a few glasses of water because I'm sure I was dehydrated and then we were off again. I believe there were 10 out of 16 who decided to make the most of our last night on the town. At the door to AJ's we lost 2 when they found out that the cover was $10. The other 8 (only half of our group) partied until last call (that was 4 a.m.)! It was a perfect ending to a perfect beach trip. I can't speak for the rest of the group but I vote that Beach Trip 2006 was the best yet! NO DRAMA that I know of and everyone marched to the beat of thier own drum. I'm blessed to have 16 female friends that I can go to the beach with and have the best time ever! I almost died on the ride home since I'd had only four hours of sleep and too many tequila shots the night before but it was WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF PAIN I SUFFERED! My head is still a little swimmy today but I'm sure life as I know it will be back to normal tomorrow.

Beach Bums

So I'll be leaving on Thursday morning with "the girls" for our annual beach trip. I can't remember a past year when I've been more excited than I am right now. I haven't been out in over 2 months and enough is enough. I need to get out and dance a little and remind myself what dance moves I can and can't still do. It's amazing to me at the ripe young age of 27 how your body really starts talking to you. I was doing toe touches at my in-laws the other night and my lower back has been bothering me ever since. If you're wondering why I was doing toe-touches it's because we got into a big discussion about being able to still do it. My hubby can't. As a matter of fact, I don't know that he ever could. He is the most unlimber person that I think I have ever met. It's hard to believe that he can even sit up straight. LOL! Anyway, enought about toe touches and back to the beach thingy. I think there are about 16 of us going this year. Yes...16! It's big, it's crazy, sometimes ridiculous and that's the way we ALL like it. The more the merrier is usually the theme. I can only remember one year out of the last 5 that we really had some drama. It was the year that we incorporated my bachelorette party and I don't have time to go into all the details of that. Let's just say that my wedding could have been on Jerry Springer and my bachelorette party kicked it all off. Maybe one day I'll be bored enough and write a blog about all of that but I DOUBT IT! Some topics are just better left unrevisited. If you have no idea what I'm talking about just ask. I'll write a detailed account of the whole ordeal and email it to you. I've been trying to go over my closet in my head for a couple of days now to plan out what outfits I want to take. I one of those people who packs like I'm leaving for a month or so. I'd really like to pack a lot lighter this year since I'm dealing with back problems. I looking so forward to going to Howl at the Moon. It's the most fabulous piano bar that I've ever been to. They guys on the pianos are hilarious. My baby sister didn't enjoy it back in June when we went but I think she'll have a better time since "the girls" will be there. It always helps to have a few refreshing beverages while you are there as well. I'll be able to devote a couple of days to catching a few rays if the rain holds off. I heard that there is a 60% chance of rain while we're there. I may just lay on the beach in the rain and pretend that it's liquid sunshine that is falling. I've heard a rumor that cards and bunco will be along for the ride just in case we get stuck in the room.

So It's Been A While...

Since the crash of my laptop my blog has suffered terribly. I got word from my "computer mechanic" today that it is fixed for now. I'm stoked!!! I never knew how much I actually used it until it crashed and I was without it. It's like a cell phone. I don't think I use it very often but let me leave it at home and I feel like I'm lost. It's a security thing I think. I think we all tend to depend on all of these electronic devices in life without even realizing it. For instance, at Christmas 2 years ago the hubby and I got TIVO from his parents. At the time I was like...what are we going to do with this thing. Now I couldn't live without it. T.V. would totally suck if I couldn't rewind and fast forward. And I really don't know when any of "my shows" actually are aired. Instead of me working my schedule around the t.v., our t.v. just does its thing and I watch the shows when I have a chance. If you don't have a TIVO I highly recommend it regardless of how addictive it is. It is totally worth it!

So the point of this post is to let you know that I'll be back at it very soon...blogging away as usual. It's exercise for my brain and maybe yours...LOL! NOT!!!
